When approached with a compassionate heart and a creative eye, creating images that tell untold stories and support organizations giving aid and comfort to those in need, for me, non-profit and humanitarian photography is one of the most rewarding ways a camera can be used. Around the world, there are always those in need of something basic that many of us may take for granted. When and wherever possible, humanitarian and non-governmental organizations aim to step in to fill the void for these people. But of course on every level, this requires funding, and moreover, awareness of the masses to help in providing the funding. This is what powerful images and compassionate storytelling can achieve, and this is always my goal when I’m commissioned to create such images.
