A few handfuls of times per year since I’ve been based in Hoi An, I get a request to help my good friends at Hoi An Photo Tour to take guests out for the sunrise tour in one of our favorite fishing villages. Since the action starts before the sun comes up there, that means we have to be on site, coffeed up and ready to go as soon as the sun cracks the horizon. My least favorite part of this is when my alarm buzzes at 4am and I regret my agreement to get up. My favorite part is about 2 minutes after we get there, and I start hunting frames for me and showing our guests a few tricks of the trade and how to capture nice shots in this chaotic environment. So, here are just a few of my favorite shots from the past few sessions out. Some mornings are pretty, some are rainy wet, but once you’re up and there, you might as well shoot!
