My first stop upon entering the US for a visit last month was Seattle, where my brother has chosen to take up residence. The city itself and its people were quite intriguing for me, especially as my eyes are much more used to the scenes of Asia, for better or worse, but for one reason or another, I just couldn’t get in the mood to take out my real camera to capture the scenes. Maybe it was the cold, the rain or possibly that I’m uncomfortable around too many “foreigners” now, but in any case, I just couldn’t bring myself to shoot digital. It’s times like these when I’m thankful that I own a very cheap plastic camera called a Holga, and that I brought it with me. When it’s in my hands, I view the world much differently, much more artistically, as opposed to the observational or documentary eyes I usually have on. So, one afternoon, we headed out in the seemingly constant drizzle to see a bit of the city’s life. Since there are only twelves frames on one roll, and more sights than that I wanted to shoot, I decided just to expose a few images on a frame, and until just a few hours ago, I had no idea what the final results would be, but I had a suspicion they would be fairly magical. Below are the frames in order, from one roll, one afternoon in Seattle.

Quinn…great pictures:) I am from Seattle, but live in Honduras now and share your opinion about feeling like a “foreigner” in the States now. Great photography work! I am now a follower of your work after seeing your website featured on PhotoShelter.com.
    Cheers!
